Futureproof Retreat 2027 / Design field note
The same forms, a different light
The Retreat shares the Futureproof alphabet with the Festival. Its different mood comes through prismatic colour, quieter reading space and the relationship between a figure and the opening around it.
Field note
A figure and its frame
M10 Figure in aperture places an upright body inside an arch. The body and the surrounding line remain separate, so the opening reads as clearly as the figure. This is the selected round-five master, carried forward unchanged.
Its documented lineage leads to Christopher Quinn’s supplied reference 26. The structural name describes what is visible. The design record does not identify a person in the figure or assign it a cultural meaning. It can be studied as a relationship between solid shape, outline and open space.
A volume made from three planes
M09 Three facets is the selected round-six A refinement of Faceted volume. Three separate planes suggest a solid form, with narrow spaces between the top and the two sides. Its lineage points to supplied reference 07.
The Retreat’s prismatic expression changes the colour and mood around these forms. The exact vector stays intact. Dense notation, inhabited letters, figures and small landscape or mineral worlds can share a composition without turning any one element into a compulsory subject.
One family, with room for difference
B1 Cut blocks remains the lettering lead for both events, with B2 Open forms in reserve. The seven selected vector motifs are shared too. M12 Paired peaks, like the figure and the nested square, is an unchanged round-five form; its asymmetric silhouette belongs to the same vocabulary.
The selected M11 natural-history engraving is a separate 1536 × 1024 raster on opaque paper. It is an optional detail among many, not the Retreat’s subject. Christopher’s original references, the new Codex vector interpretations and the new imagegen illustrations retain their separate credits throughout the family.
