October 28–30 · Vancouver
What they’re bringing
Anthony Joseph, Councillor of the Squamish Nation. He has opened our meetups all year, and the festival opens the same way: a welcome to the territory, the first thing said from the stage.
A reminder of whose territory this is before anyone says a word about the future.

About Anthony Joseph
Anthony Joseph is a Councillor of the Squamish Nation. He has grounded the Vancouver AI community meetups at the Space Centre with Indigenous welcomes, opening the July meetup with hand drum and a journey song, and his talk The Empty Seats Are Never Empty is one of the best things to happen on that stage. He opens Futureproof Festival the same way, with a welcome to Squamish territory before anything else is said.
