Long description
Futureproof Festival is Vancouver's first week-long AI festival, produced by the BC + AI Ecosystem Association — an 800+ member nonprofit born out of the monthly Vancouver AI Meetup (28+ months running, 250+ attendees monthly). The festival spans six themed days from October 25 to 31, 2026: Education + Youth, Life Sciences, Hackathon + Expo + Job Fair, Mind/AI/Consciousness (MAC), AI Ethical Futures Lab Ethics Jam, and the 2nd Annual BC + AI Film Festival. Unlike conferences that cater only to professionals, Futureproof is designed for everyone whose life is being transformed by AI — teachers, healthcare workers, citizens, filmmakers, students, and builders.

I would say, even those who are critical or skeptical of AI for good reasons, we need those people at the table the most. Otherwise, it's just gonna be the hypers and the boosters that get to make all the decisions of the future.
If you talk about working on your violent AI misogynistic racist systems, it's a much different approach that gets taken. You can't just push it off till later.
