Dean Shev is CTO and co-founder of VHT.ai, a Vancouver company building healthcare AI for patients. He leads the architecture behind ECHNA, an empathetic care and health navigation assistant, along with the clinical data systems, the privacy-first infrastructure, and the digital twin work that pulls a person’s scattered health records into guidance they can actually use. ECHNA is built for preventive support rather than diagnosis, it has to hold up under US HIPAA and Canadian PHIPA, and there is a live iOS beta in the field. So his working days go to the parts nobody demos: consent, de-identified data, and the boundaries that decide whether a health tool survives contact with real patients. He is a fixture of Vancouver’s AI community and a past BC + AI community spotlight.
